Storyline Advice Regarding The Big Creatures

While NERO is a high fantasy role playing game in a medieval atmosphere, we must be careful that we aren't pushing Dragons, Griffins, Drakes, Krakens, down our players throats.

We don't want all of our stories to revolve around these magical creatures either.

Each Race needs to have 5 different myths of how they came about, so as to make sure that no one is considered 'official'.

Having Races & Cultures come from Magical Monsters like Dragons, Drakes, Griffins, etc. does not keep all of the players on a level playing field. Being descended from Dragons just doesn't sound right for a fantasy story.

Dragons don't just manipulate mortals for the fun of it. there are reasons for it, good reason should be found. because the dragon doesn't want to see the humans be defeated by the ogres is just not a good reason. because the dragon baby 'ran away from home' seems to belittle the Dragon Race.

Killing a Dragon every weekend is just not right, especially when Dragons are supposed to be made of the very stuff that makes Magic and perhaps Tyrra, and that they are virtually unkillable. I know that some chapters use dragons now, as NPC's in town, as killable monsters that have been killed, that manipulate others to achieve x goals, etc.. We do not want to stifle the creative flow of our story writing teams but we don't need to put out dragons galore.

care must be taken about their use by each and every one of us.

Why would a Dragon really care about mortals? you have to have a pretty good reason why dragons would interfere with a town or city.

If each chapter runs one dragon storyline each year, we will have encountered 40 dragons per year. is this too much? yes.

Does the alleged Green Dragon in the Dreadlands really care about what is happening? yes, this one does because it lives in the dreadmark. In the last 3 years there have been settlements starting up that have led to the surrounding of his home by the mortals. the mortals that love to hunt creatures and kill those they consider to be 'monsters'. Since Evendarr is the backbone of this settlements, Emeraldyne took it up with the dragon that has given land bonds to the King of Evendarr, The Silver Dragon, and has also unleashed his Lieutenants upon ALL of the settlements. One enemy, 5 chapters participating. and National Plot is working with the local chapters to bring the lieutenants of Emerldynes against the other Evendarrian Duchies, to further damage the strength of the Silver Dragons bonds, and the Kings, and the kings people, by bringing strife and turmoil to multiple lands rather than fewer. The Dragon still has not entered game, and we not sure when or if it will, or if it does, will you even know it as he walks among you as a human, or elf, dwarfetc..
